Paul,
I had a plant identified on DG that was growing in the shade for a couple of years. It's a Loraine Sunshine! I have no idea where it came fromas I have vwery few varigated plants, LOL! I moved it to a sunneier bed and hopefully will get to see it bloom for the first time next year. Especially if it's long blooming!

Susan,
''Paul, I copy and paste your flower and nothing came up''
HUGE GRIN over that!!

I bookmarked the link. A lot of Missouri plants are hardy here. Thanks!

Well, Gaillardia 'Moxie' definitely wins out over all the other long-bloomers for me this year. I took this shot just a little while ago as big snowflakes were beginning to fall. It's too warm at the ground for much to stick, but 'Moxie' has been unfazed through everything. If I would pay some attention to it, no telling how it would look. But it has been too wet and cold to be out there "gardening" now. Blinking

I wonder why they don't have the American Wisteria on that list- of course they can't list everything, but is that a very unusual plant?

Those lists are really nice. Every year I'm going to write down when things bloom and I forget. Because I'm too busy looking at things blooming.

But that really helps knowing what perennial to match up another one with. Seems I get my colors right and dates wrong, or vice versa.

Tee,
What a great performer! For something that likes it hot and dry, the Gaillardias really deliver!

Polly,
I take a clipboard with me as I walk my flower beds each day. I keep a record of blooms :o)

That is exactly why I keep track! Matching plants in beds, and it's a nice touch when gifting someone with a plant.

Sally, I really need to do that. I go out there and I get so busy. But I'm getting quite a few new plants this year, and trying to figure out what blooms with what is tough for me.

Excel spreadsheet, lol, that's how I keep track, although DH is looking for something that works a little better for me..... heck, I need something just so I can remember what is which. We had some work done on our home that meant all of my hosta had to be dug up and moved - and now I have no idea what is which. And that drives me *nuts*,

Jmorth also has a pretty extensive tracking system.

Confused
How does the spread sheet work, all I have is sticks rising up out of the ground. If something pulls them up I will be lost. Crying

Any Ideas are welcome, I must figure out something. Sad

Polly,
I just made it my thing to grab the clipboard and walk the beds before I was ready to do any work. I had notes jotted down all over the edges that I would rewrite on a ''to do'' list or a ''great combonation'' list or ''flowers that are buried'' list. The lists went on and on, but I fixed a lot of problems almost immediatly, or years later, depending, LOL! For colors, sometimes I just go to a color wheel. I have many wonderful plant books I also like to look thru.

Sheryl,
I made a spreadsheet listing all the plants I moved and where I put them. Of course I wrote it down after each move so my paper was filthy, but it sure helps me remember all I've done.

Susan,
I've learned to make sure the tags are visible and try to get it into the picture. I also back off and get surrounding plants or other identifying thing or ornament in the picture too.

And a trowel.

I do my spreadsheet on the computer- which is probably why I spend way too much time on these forums - I get distracted, lol... can you spell Ay-Dee-Dee? Rolling on the floor laughing
