October usually spells the end of the gardening season here in Iowa. This year we've been blessed with an extended season as there has been no frost yet. Larry, your article is informing and I do love learning about new plants. many of which I can not grow in Phoenix. I really love that mystery plant, the Asters and Melampodium and the bush clover and . . .

Thanks for your kind comments, Becky. The reverse is true, too. I can't grow in Iowa what you can grow in Phoenix. Are you familiar with High Country Gardens? They are pioneers in offering xeric plants for climates like yours. If you have anything blooming at the moment, I'd love to see photos.

Larry, I just have purslane right now but I moved to an apartment with a balcony for a while.

My title was typed too quickly: I meant that I have plant envy.
