I've heard of knockout roses but have never been so knocked out as I am while looking at this camellia! What is it? Where does your garden grow? And can I have it please? (Oh slap me.)

Joan, I agree that is one gorgeous Camellia! Lovey dubby

I don't know if you will get a response from the photo owner, it appears from their member profile page, he/she has not posted on site with the exception of that one photo in the database and 5 entry photos in the 2014 photo contest ... no posts on any thread/forum. Sad

Probably just a genetic mutation. Some camellias have a gene that causes various different patterns in the flowers, some with perhaps a tiny bit of pink on white or some with a more dominant splash of pink like this one.

Thank y'all for your replies. I've been wanting to grow a camellia ever since my late neighbor started offering me a single flower every year. He kept hoping that I'd take the bait and try to smell it. But I figure if he can grow camellias so can I. The problem is that I'm sooooo indecisive. 'Oh, look. There's a pretty one. But wait! Look at this one. And then - ooooh! That one's cool.' Guess y'all understand the problem. I think as far as camellias selling here in Big D, the choices will be minimal. But one nursery has an incredible sale this week. To go or not to go? Think I know the answer.
