There are many fragrant daffodils. Just search the phrase. And many fragrant lilies too. Hyacinths are very fragrant.

oooh, yardenman, you have to get "in" on our next group buy for daffs & other fall bulbs (hyacinths, yes!)... I love love fragrant daffodils, especially double and split-corona (butterfly) daffs. Where do you live in MD? The bulb buys have been distributed at fall plant swaps as well as directly from my home in Frederick...

Any chance you can come to the spring swap at Jan's? I hope so!

Jonquilla daffodils or narcissus have glorious fragrance.

I am in Southern MD Charles county. It would be interesting to meet other gardeners. I'm kind of solitary though.

I think it's been a while since we've had a swap (aka "plant party") south of DC, but you're not that terribly far from Frederick for bulb pickup parties, midwinter seed swaps, etc. For the most part, we're about the same in person as we are online -- I think you could manage. And I'd love to meet you!

Forgive me for asking, but what do myou actually DO at swap meets. I mean it seems obvious, swap plant and bulbs, but what do you expect of swapped plants. I don't even know most of the names of mine.

I could certainly bring daylily divisions (for example), but I wouldn't have the slightest idea of their names. I have enough trouble deciding what to have for dinner!

Its more that I like what I have, but lose track of the names.

What's "common" to you is likely "most wanted" for somebody else, and names are less important than "pretty!" They aren't really swaps as much as plant-sharing parties...

getting back on topic, has anybody grown Peanut Butter Shrub? I got one from Chantell -- a good sized toddler -- and it took 5 years to start blooming, but wow was it worth the wait! The sweet fragrant flowers just go forever and are a hummingbird magnet as well.
