I am wondering if anyone has tried any of the motion activated devices to deter deer or animals from their gardens?

I have a cat, so I really don't want to scare him off because he's a hunter of voles and mice, and also keeps the rabbit population down.

But I wouldn't mind scaring away the deer. They tend to bed down in my garden in winter and during hunting season. It seems like all I saw, when shopping online, was motion activated water sprayers. I would be concerned about winter, and for the size of the garden, a water connection at all (in other words, having to run water to the device).

Has anyone found any that are just moving devices that are motion activated? I have seen ones online that flashed light. But from what I've heard from hunters around here, deer can be tranced by a flashlight. I guess I was wondering how effective like an actual halloween witch that is not only motion activated laughed, but also has movement, like arms flinging or head nodding. To me, I think this would scare away the deer, but I can't even find a source for one of those type devices.

This is late but next year if you have a Aldi, Big lots, Kmart hit them after halloween. These are the three stores that put their holiday decor on sale for 75% off you can get the scary skeletons that are motion activated for pennies. I get them every year,

This year I got a motion activated five ft tall witch for five dollars. I also got a large Dinosaur that moves. and his eyes light up and flash. That really. bothers them. I had one in the front garden and they stay away.

The the other store that if you wait a little longer after the holiday but may not find a large selection is CVS they go down to 90%

I have a couple of items I tried from amazon that I have had some good results. The some means less damaage not all damage. I think it stopped them when they were not hungry but when they were hungry they did not care. This usual happens in the fall or end of summer.

If you buy these move it so they think it is danger moving around on your property.
