For my winter blooms such as paper whites, forced bulbs, and amaryllis, I like to use small trash cans with holes melted in the bottom. There's something about the juxtaposition of a trashcan and pretty flowers that really appeals to me. And honestly, a lot of trash cans at the Dollar Tree are pretty in and of themselves.

Here are two of my trashcans that are getting ready to bloom. If you start them earlier than I did you can put a big bow around them, dress them up with some pretty dried moss, and give them to people for Catholic and Protestant Christmas.

I am in a neighborhood with a lot of Orthodox Christians so Christmas is next weekend when these will be just coming into bloom. But I might put a bow on them and keep them for myself anyway. Ha ha.

Now that is a clever idea! And very affordable too! I'll have to check out our Dollar Tree and see what they have.

Sometimes different Dollar Trees in the same town will have a different selection. There are all sorts of things there that can be used as plant containers but aren't necessarily marketed as such.
Keep going!

I agree with Connie, that is a very clever idea. And our Dollar Tree has all kinds of things that can be used for growing plants. Thank you for the reminder.
