The Eagle Cams are up!

The Florida Eagles have hatched 1 chick and there is another egg that hasn't hatched yet. Here's the link and a picture:

The Berry College Eagles laid their 1st egg yesterday so it will be a while before it hatches.

I love the cams.

Here is a picture of the chick in the first picture today at about 7 weeks of age. Since the other egg never hatched, this guy got all the food and is huge!

Aw that's a shame the other egg never hatched. I don't really know much about birds. My dad kept some small birds when I was a kid and I've had a few budgies myself but that's about it! The eagle is one of my favorite birds particularly the harpy eagle it looks really cool then theres the bone eating vulture/eagle known as the lammergeier also pretty cool tho im not so keen on the red eyes! I also like most small birds.

While on a vacation in Alaska, a big brown bird got close enough for me to take it's picture. I was so excited to be that close to a bird, but told the Zipline guide I was disappointed it wasn't an Eagle. Oh, but it WAS, she told me! Young Bald Eagles are all brown without a white hood during the first 3-5 years or so when they are learning to fly etc., the brown feathers help camouflage them from predators.

I'll see if I can find it. It was a number of years ago and we were transitioning from photos on CD to online and phone shots. I will have to look for it. First stop, an ancient Photobucket account. What was that password again? LOL Hilarious!
