HOLY TOLEDO! You were not kiddin'.....I'm going to have to refrain from going to crazy when placing an order. I never knew there was this many kinds of beautiful Coleuses..........now to make my wish list.
Do any of you dig your's up in the fall and bring into the house? That's what I'd probably do as I like having color in the house too and I'm a seed collector of all my plants anyways.

Tina, coleus are very easy to start from cuttings in the fall. It's much easier to over winter a little cutting in the house that a huge plant, so many of us keep coleus this way.

I put a Large cutting in a pot in Aig,bu cold weather( they dont like night temps below 59*) The plant has nice roots. I bring it into the house in September before the nights get cold, take small cuttings from it all winter.
I use saved yogurt cups so cuttings make nice roots. With ample root system they dont shock so easily when transplanted to containers or the garden in late May here Z6

Poor Allison (onewishone) just lost about 200 cuttings when she lost power - she's in NJ.

I have a ton in my greenhouse. I would be more than happy to send plants to her in the spring. I read about that some place. I lost all my specialty geraniums one winter. We got an early hard frost and I forgot they were in the garage in a box. Shrug!

Thanks for the tip....would be alot easier than digging the whole plant up, just to take cuttings.
I had snagged a few cuttings from a coleus, put in water and rooted them. Now I have them in potting soil under flourescent lights in the basement (60's), so far they are looking good.

DEepending on what variety your cuttings are, they may put on winter colors. I lable mine if I have more then a few cuttings.
They bounce back after a week outdoors in spring.

People across the street lost all their JM leaves in one night. However they now have a pretty red lawn.

A little morning sun and afternoon shade is the way they seem to do best or dappled shade all day. There are some varieties that can take all day sun in this area.

@caitlinsgarden I swear I used to remember always growing coleus in shade, but I've noticed that more and more recent cultivars say part shade to full sun. When I was hunting for a part to full shade variety a couple of months ago at a well stocked independent nursery, I had a heck of a time finding one (that I liked). My advice, carefully read the labels or online descriptions if you want one for mostly shade.
