All About Goldenrod

It isn't goldenrod that makes you sneeze. It's the ragweed that grows beside it. Let's take a look at this golden beauty that many would like to banish. Aunt Bett and I never could convince Mom that goldenrod didn't cause her allergies; maybe I can convince you.

I put those golden flowers in olive oil that I rub on bruises and sprains. The leaf and flower I actually use in tea/tincture form for colds and flus particularly since it is great for slowing down/stopping the drippy nose thing. Most interesting for me is that ragweed before it blooms and sends out its pollen is one of best herbal antihistamines I know!! Who knew the cure for pollen was actually the plant!! Nature is so accommodating...

I'm sure you know that the timing is critical when grabbing ragweed at just the right time! I'm one who forgets it till it's too late and I'm already sneezing. You are exactly right, Mary. I should have mentioned that in the article but it is one of the few plants that really truly gets on my nerves, so I don't often have kind words for it.

It's so good to have you here. Thanks for joining us at ATP.
You are going to love it.

And thanks for your comment too.

Sharon,

Your Aunt Bett sounds like a true treasure. Thank you for sharing your experiences learning from her.

Smiles,
Lyn
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.
