This is a trumpet vine I saw a little over a mile away from my house while out driving last year. Obviously, I was wowed by this incredible specimen. I stopped back later to take a photo. I think the homeowners said it was about seven years old. They also said this old utility pole is scheduled to be replaced sometime soon. Hopefully, the vine will be able to regrow.

I planted one at the base of a 30 foot pole last year. I hope it makes it through the winter. I watered it over the summer, and it had several blooms, so I'm thinking it got itself pretty well trenched in and will be back and growing good this spring.

The one in your photo is simply gorgeous. I would be absolutely ill if it was mine and had to be cut back.

Wow, that's an incredible photo! In our area, the utility people don't permit plants to grow on their poles. I wish they did, since this is so pretty!
