I do use plastic mulch, 4 mil black. It works great for weed control, surprisingly, I rarely water, but we do get adequate rainfall.
I love the idea of having pre-perforated planting holes, too.
The 4 mil black plastic that I use can be reused about 4 to 5 seasons/years before it's unusable.
The flora flow is something i may consider.

This is my first year using it. I'm going too use it on my tomatoes this year. The irrigation tube is glued to it.
