Recently there have been a number of pictures added to the Multi Plant/Landscape Photos that are pictures of individual blossoms or other plant items. They are of good quality and it would seem be more correctly added to the data base as they are neither Multi or Landscape. In the past I have had pictures deleted that a moderator didn't feel were correct. Does anyone look at these? Maybe I'm being nit-picky. Shrug!

Admins can move pictures from the Landscape photos to individual plants in the database. Occasionally we go through and do a sweep. It sounds like a sweep is overdue at this point. Smiling

I noticed quite a few of those recently too, some seemed to be from new members. I think it would help if on the main landscape photo page (https://garden.org/plants/mult...) there was a hard to miss brief explanation of what photos are appropriate for it, right above the upload button. Explaining that if there is only one plant seen or tagged in the photo then it would be more appropriate to add it to the plants database. Providing a link to the plants database right on that page as well would help direct people to it. Is there a comprehensive article that explains all the various aspects of sharing photos here (plants database, landscape photos, inserting in posts and swap lists, and linking pictures posted to the database)? If so providing a link to it at all places people might upload photos from, might help too.

It's renamed Landscape to try to direct it more toward showing plants and plant combos in a landscape setting.
Looks like a recent new member did not understand it and I moved all but one photo to their respective database entry.

Landscape to me means a scenic landscape photo or plants growing in a garden or natural environment so I too was wondering when I saw quite a few close up shots of blooms.

I've also wondered why some of the landscape photos don't have the names (tags) listed on the plants that are shown.

Some people just don't know how to use the feature and also, if they are uploading from an IPad or IPhone, you can't do the drag function to 'draw' the boxes.

I was hesitant to bring this up because I do not want to discourage a new member who is contributing with enthusiasm. Hope they will continue to post pictures in the correct place.

Sue, I'm way behind the times ... never thought about the IPad or IPhone issue.

When this feature was called 'Multi Plant' I wondered at the photos of just two plants together (and yes occasionally a single bloom). Multiple in my mind is more than two. But then I saw the value of seeing two plant combinations, especially when both are labeled so they show up in the database under both plants. Then it was changed to 'Landscape' which in my mind is more of a long-shot showing an entire bedding arrangement. Perhaps the name needs more tweaking? Plant Combinations (?)

I agree that a lead-in to what photos are appropriate, with links to the main database for single-plant photos, would be a great idea. Perhaps a reminder note to also label the plants.

I do enjoy them all, no matter how many plants are featured.

I think "plant combinations and landscapes" is a good description for what is appropriate. Is it possible for touchscreen only users that cannot click and drag to simply list plants in the photo without having to draw bounding boxes on the photo? I know more people now are using primarily touchscreen devices.

The loader in question continues to load single entries even as I type. Some landscape pics take quite a while to square and name; then it's loaded on the site, and gone even before the author can enjoy it, let alone other gardeners.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Some of the photos are also obviously not labeled correctly....the photo of the rudbeckia is labeled Daylily Black Eyed Susan. The Echinacea is also not labeled correctly. It is not Cygnet White which is white.....

I deleted one like that yesterday, looks like another was. They were typing in Black Eyed Susan and not seeing that it's a daylily by that name. Latest images added, I have moved to the database.

I think my question falls under this heading.

Should landscape photos be of the member's own garden?
Its easy for me to believe in miracles when science can't explain why a blade of grass has its shape and that is just one plant and one attribute.

Anita, I don't know if there are any rules about this, but I would hope that if I were to see a beautiful landscape somewhere other than my garden, that I would be encouraged to photograph it and share it here with others. It would be great to note where the photo was taken.

Lots of my pictures are taken in other gardeners gardens and at nurseries. I saw a couple of beautiful rose arbors today and if I get moving in the morning I will take some pictures. Also to me a photo of a single rose doesn't qualify but a arbor with heavy bloom does.......

I agree that the location should always be noted, but I love seeing photos taken at botanical gardens, parks and plant nurseries. If they were limited only to our home gardens there wouldn't be as many photos.
