This is to early , anybody else having this problem.? I am piling on the leaves tomorrow. We are going to be in the sixties and seventies for another week. I just know we will get another snow and ice event before the end of March.

I've seen this happen from time to time in my area (zone 5b) and my plants just keep right on going. As long as the pips stay closed and don't actually unfurl any leaves they seem to get through late snow/freezes okay.

I've seen buds on some shrubs and new leaves on some daylilies, but no hostas so far. I'm tempted to scratch around to see if anything's growing yet, but I'll be patient!

I had this happen three years ago and they looked terrible all summer. That year they came up in March and we had horrible weather all of April and half of a May.

Fortunately mine are still under a lot of snow, though we've had nearly a week of above freezing temps. But it certainly can be a problem if they emerge too early. I hope you don't encounter freezing later on.

Well we had two more weeks of 50 and above temps and I gave up covering because that was only making them grow faster. Tonight we are going to get several inches of snow and will be below freezing for 6 days. I hate this weather. I appreciated the mild spring winter we had this year but I am going to pay for it with a ugly shade garden this summer.

I really am disappointed because this was my year to host the girl party. I had been given a pass because my DH was sick and I had just purchased the property. They were coming this year to see the beautiful gardens I have developed the last four years on my beautiful 4 acres I have been telling them about. Oh well stuff happens.

It will be awhile for me. But I'm starting to see the tips of spring bulbs in the areas where I don't still have snow cover.
