When we have time, we go to our favorite pot and pottery outlet in Sunol, CA. We finally had some time yesterday as it is along the way to Fry's electronics, hubby needs some stuff there. But this time I went to get a bag of cacti mix and volcanic pumice. They have a good price for those stuff too. And going around the area is always fun.
I typically use clay containers, either glazed or unglazed and with drainage holes. Lots of choices here, sizes, styles..
I really enjoy going to this pot and pottery outlet, aside from a huge selection, they also have interesting gardening ideas for succulents which I like a lot: like giving new purpose to broken pottery for succulent plantings:
A mini-garden in a container idea:
California was in drought for quite some time before this winter, so a lot of fountains have been converted to succulent planters, here is one of their planting ideas:
Walking further along, I saw this interesting wooden structure, converted to a layered succulent planter. Roof slots and sidings have ample space for little succulents to grow, giving it also some shade along the way and lots of airflow:
Nice space inside, shade loving plants would definitely like this center spot:
They were giving away these plastic grower trays and containers for free! So I took some home, it will be nice to put my smaller plants there for awhile and organize them.
