This my be a duplicate post. Being new ro raising adeniums I have read about many soil mixes. I have 2 that need to be repotted into larger pots. Using what I have available I want to use the following mix. 40% construction sand, 40% aquarium gravel, and 20% potting soil. Is this a good mix to use?

I really do not like construction sand..I would much prefer to use pumice or perlite. Sand has a tendency to compact in the container.

We all have varying preferences, what works for me is using cacti mix, compost, pumice, perlite, akadama, kanuma, and top dressing with chicken grit (insoluble crushed granite). If I do not have kanuma or akadama, then it will be cacti mix, compost, pumice/perlite. Can't tell you my percentages, I just eyeball it, as I mix them all in very well. I use shallow and wide container rather than too deep and big, will really depend on the size and rootball of your plant.

In my experience, adeniums aren't all that picky about soil as long as it drains well & quickly. I often just use a "standard" potting soil with added perlite at maybe 2 parts soil, 1 part perlite - or something to that effect depending on what I have on hand.
