I was just reading some government abstracts (US, Canada, Croatia) about alfalfa seeds and found out they can be stored for 4-8 years in cool conditions. In fact, they have such a high hard seed content to begin with that the germination rate is not good until they have been stored for at least a couple of years. During that time the hard alfalfa seeds soften and become easier to germinate. 4-8 years! Outstanding long-term storage. That makes them an even better choice for those wanting to have healthy emergency food supplies on hand. That isn't just "survivalists" ... it's anyone who is interested in preparing for an emergency.
