Say what?
All of you nature lovers, tree huggers, flower children (ahem) are needed to compete in the iNaturalist bioblitz. This is a 5 day (April 14-18) competition with 14 metropolitan areas across the U.S. to see which city can post the most observations on iNaturalist.org, the citizen science website.
When you follow the link, it will tell you how to join and post pictures of plants, animals and insects. So get your camera or smartphone and point and shoot. Doesn't matter if you know the name of what you're taking a picture of. And it doesn't matter if someone else has also posted a picture of the same plant, animal or insect. For the competition it
does matter that pictures are taken during April 14 -18.
Researchers and land managers use the information to track various species and the health of ecosystems.
This link tells all. Well, almost all. It's geared to DFW (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Wise counties) but Austin and Houston are also competing. So I say that at least one of the 3 Texas cities should be able to win this hands down!
