This is one of my favorites -- my aunt was an excellent gardener, completely non-plussed by all sorts of things that sent me running back into the house or hopping over a fence into another yard. One summer evening after watering, she realized her tube bird feeder was almost empty, and said, not now, I'll get to it in the morning. Next morning, she went outside without her glasses, and found the feeder on the ground. Hmmm...she picks it up, and it feels a little heavier than it should, so she puts it up closer to her face to get a good look, and it's a bird's head! A mourning dove was so eager to get at the last bit of seed in this thing that it shoved its body into the tube, not a great fit, with such force that it not only knocked the bottom off, but got stuck. She dropped it and screamed so loud that her neighbor came running thinking she was being attacked. He was trying to figure out what he could do that wouldn't harm the bird, and then basically came up with just sort of giving it a gentle shake, the same wrist action you would use to flick a whip? After a few tries, it came out, got its sea legs for a few seconds and then took off -- no harm done! She never got over it, but the bird did!
