For some time I have wanted to put in a small container water garden. After a bit of research here and on the internet I was shocked to discover that one of the sites that I went to for a lot of information (the Water garden) was located locally here in Chattanooga. I went down to the brick and mortar shop, discussed a lot of things with them and decided to proceed with the project. They had a perfect 3 foot diameter container that had some plant ledges molded right in. This container gives me a little over 7 square foot of surface area to work with. I filled the plant with water and added some conditioners recommend by The Water Garden and let the pot sit for two weeks. Picked up plants early this afternoon and placed them in the container. The plants are 1 Blue Pickerel, 1 water mint, 1 Mosiac plant, 2 water hyacinths (will be removed when water lily and mosiac plant grow enough to provide surface coverage) and 1 Perry's dwarf red water lily. In a few weeks I will probably add 3 or 4 Mosquito fish and some type of underwater oxygenator plant. Here is the just planted container. Not much to look at right now but anxious to watch it grow and share the photos with you guys as it progresses. Any advice is always welcomed and appreciated.
