I saw this in a Craigslist ad about using semi-truck brake drums as flower pots. I thought it was a great idea, but the seller was too far. So I contacted my nephew who drives a big truck and asked if he knew where I could get some. He had one and said he would have four more in a month or two.

For posterity after the ad expires:

Old brake drums from big semi trucks work and look GREAT as flower pots! They look like a big clay pot but will NEVER crack or break like clay pots do and will NEVER rot as all wooden planters eventually do. These are made of HEAVY thick cast iron(about 90lbs. each).

1 gallon milk jug in pic is for size comparison. Inside diameter is 16 1/2" and depth is 9"(the ones in pic).

- I just got some in that are a little shorter, 8" tall and same diameter.

GUARANTEED to last forever!

Can be painted or left with it's rust colored patina which makes it resemble a large clay pot. Some have paint overspray on them here and there(see pic - some have more, some less) from when in use.

Gloves need to be worn when handling these so please come prepared. Also, if these are to be transported home in your car (instead of pickup) you may want to bring cardboard or a blanket to put them on as some are a bit dirty/greasy as they just came off a big truck.
