Josephine: Thank you so much for your response! I do believe you're right
about the plant ID. I appreciate adding this plant's ID to my recognition.

What I read about it on that web site is that it is fairly well behaved,
not a thug like some. Have you tried wildflower resources?

I have this tephrosa at my house, and so far.... It defies my efforts to propagate.
It produces seed, but most are eaten by weevils.
When I was able to find viable seed, they came up readily... In pots.
When the plants were set out, the voles killed the babies. The ground planted seeds? Reckon also vole casualties.
Over in NC at King's Mountain.... Dunno if it's even legal for you to collect seed... But if you can.... Y'all may have less pests than I do.

Incidentally, I also have the wild Sandhills threadleaf coreopsis, and attempting to move it into the garden just feeds the voles.... I can't even grow jeruseleum artichoke!

Bless you Stone, I know that trying to grow wild plants can be very difficult, and yet when conditions are right for them they grow beautifully all by themselves. Smiling Smiling

Stone: Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's always
helpful to know what others have done successfully or not!

I didn't attempt to gather any seeds, since it's too early for seeds
to have set and I believe, being on federal national park property,
it's probably protected. I'd rather err on the cautious side and be
safe.
