Hello! I'm building a fairy/gnome garden in my backyard but I have yet to buy the plants. I've read a ton of suggestions from articles on the internet, but I'm so unsure of what will work in my area (northeast Wisconsin) and what will look good for the mini world I'm trying to create. The other problem is that the area will be in nearly all shade which is problematic. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance! Smiling

Welcome!

Your project sounds like a lot of fun. Dig in a lot of compost and build an Alpine shade garden.

My favorites would be Soloman's Seal (especially the variegated one), Bleeding Hearts, dwarf Hostas (like Blue Mouse Ears), Coral Bells. Dwarf everygreens like Dwarf Hinoki Cypress. And cold hardy azalea. My fillers would be bulbs like blue bells and crocus. I also love Astilbe.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost

Thank you for your help!! I have a bleeding heart already and it's HUGE! Are all of these plants good in full shade do you know?
