Hello to you all!
And a "thank you" for sharing all of your precious knowledge!! I have been reading and learning over the past few months, and I'm impressed with members' forethought and depth of knowledge, especially their willingness to share it!
I've stumbled on my own, grumbled to myself, and fumbled for Sempervivum information for years. Then I landed here!
Reading your posts; then finding your photos; learning your personalities, strengths, and interests; I've been the 'little kid' listening in on the "big kids' club" meetings.
[SIDEBAR: ValleyLynn, from the 1st time I saw that adorable Grade School pic of you, I've been wondering, "who is this lady?" Then u reluctantly posted a recent pic of yourself in PNW forum, and you were exactly what I had envisioned--a warm, inviting Grandmother with a big, beautiful smile!!Truly!]
And now I'm joining in the fun.

Could you help me get my Semps straight again?
(OK, I'll downgrade a DefCon from "NOID-mergency" to "NOID-noyance.")
After cuttings from friends n neighbors who don't label; boxstore misfits; and overgrown planter-babies thrown into community playpens (semp babies overflowing and thrown into one big pot, "I'll remember whom their mommies are!" yeah, sure you will..), I need help Identifying the Semps in the 'Land of the Misfit Semps.'

Theses were all in the same pot labeled, "CAVO DORO." The Bottom 3 are Cavo Doro, but the 2 in top row look very different.

Hi Tiffany thanks for introducing yourself!!! Agree with Ed nice semps!
My approach to your situation is to label the semps you think are Cavo Doro, with the name then a question mark then see if they match up to what else you have that is Cavo Doro and wait and see... It isn't a semp I own so don't know what it looks like and if giving or selling I'd keep it labeled as a NOID, this stops any mis identified semps being out there...i have lots of NOIDs!

Hi there Tiffany. And welcome to the semp group, we are so happy you joined us.
Unfortunately once they lose their tags/names They most likely will forever be known as NOIDs. Nothing wrong with that, we love our NOIDs. Hurray!
You can keep a photo diary of your 'Cavo Doro' and see if it will match up with seasonal photos from the database here.
They all look happy and healthy. Hurray!

I'm sorry, but semps cannot be identified by visual inspection. Even by experts. You can only go by your source's identification, and even that is occasionally faulty.

Welcome! Tiffany!

In your first post to us, you basically gave some very good examples of how identified semps can become Noids and how semps that started off as Noids should remain Noids.

Welcome! Tiffany and Hi from the Eastside! Thumbs up

A friend started me with a ton of named semps and I eventually pulled the tags thinking "who cares?"

When I joined this group I got Named Semp Envy and had to start my collection from scratch. Sighing!

Thank You!
Hi Patty! We love our E. WA friends. Glad to make another! "Named Semp Envy," that's hilarious!!
Hi Lynn, Greg (fellow-westsider), Bev, Tim,
Yes. Most of mine are labeled, and I'll be keeping good track of their babies from now on. The others, I'm labeling "NOID" until I come up with a new catch-all name that doesn't remind me of the former Domino's Pizza mascot( "the Noid"). DSH (Domestic Semp Hobo's ... 🐈...DSH already taken by kittens)? Mutt (🐕 ditto)? Blended Family members? ....What about "Free Range Semps??" I like that!
[SIDEBAR: please, no one inform me of a named cultivar, " Free Range Semp."
D'Oh! ]
Looking forward to participating in the forum, and sharing knowledge.

Tiffany

The cat discussing what she thinks of disseminating mis-labeled Semps...Well said, kitten....well said.
