Great article Dave - Congratulations Thumbs up

I still have the milkweed you and Trish gave us 16 or so years ago when you lived in TN. It's double and tripled and then some and growing in several areas now.

Funny story, that. I was growing it in our backyard and one day I got in a fight with my older brother who was about 6 at the time. In retaliation to some apparent victory on my side, he stormed over to my beloved little tree, pulled it out of the ground and threw it over the wall into the road. Funny how such a disappointment can still be keenly felt years later.

But as with all things in gardening, when you lose a plant, you just keep planting new stuff.

So true! Over the years I've had to leave a lot of gardens and favorite plants, but I keep getting more, and the fun continues.

Aww, sorry about your oak tree. I hope your brother mended his tree killing ways later in life.

Brings back memories of a little Pineapple plant I put in the ground 50 years ago in Miami. I hadn't done a lot of gardening at that point and I was so proud of my pineapple plant ... and especially excited when it began to produce a fruit! I kept checking it every few days and then one day I went out and some human or critter had lopped off and taken the little pineapple. Sad It wouldn't have ever ripened at the size it was and I never found out what actually happened to it but it didn't deter me from continuing to stick things in the dirt to watch them grow. Smiling
