I found that a physical barrier around gardens work best for keeping deer out. I purchased a fence kit from www.bennersgardens.com - it works great and blends right into my landscape. Hardly noticeable! Smiling

I've had some success using a sprayer with milk diluted with water 1:3. I spray the leaves of the plants I'm trying to protect about once a week or just after a good rain. It smells terrible (well, like spoiled milk) for a day or less. The milk doesn't seem to disturb any insect activity. It doesn't deter rabbits or groundhogs for me.
