These little guys are too young to be afraid! They didn't flinch when I got in the pond to clean the filter. Leopard Frogs, I think?

I haven't noticed that size correlates with type. My frogs come in all sizes when they metamorphose, and I always assumed it had something to do with the conditions that the tadpole experienced.

This guy was less than a centimeter (pacific chorusfrog/treefrog in a mandevilla) but they are usually twice that size when they crawl out of the water:

We don't have leopard frogs around here (except escaped pets) so I don't have any experience with them.

Well bull frogs grow a lot as tadpoles and when they turn into frogs are of notable size. My little toads were weenie. The different types of frogs/toads are different sizes when they come out of the water.
I don't know about leopard frogs, but I have some of those tads now, so I'm gonna find out !

Earlier this week, I let the dogs out in the wee hours, and heard a kerr=plunk in the pool. Darn cuban tree frogs. I fished it out, biggest Id caught yet. For then, I threw it in a clorine container and would put in freezer in the morning. Morning came, and all I could think about was how big that frog was, and I just didnt think, even being a cuban tree frog, I could kill it. So...off to the vet we went, so they could do the nasty. Got there and opened the lid, and saw this big boy. Vet was clueless, but I thought it was a leopard frog, so I put the lid on, and headed back home. Put him back in the pond. Frogs body is way bigger than they palm of my hand. I hope it thrives.
All cubans are still destined for freezer

I think we need to recruit a frog expert to help us identify our frogs. nodding

All my babies have been about the size of a Susan B Anthony Dollar coin. One sat on a mossy rock for two days straight. Never moved! I think it climbed out of the pond after his metamorphosis to rest?

Yea, when I opened that container, and didnt see suction cups, I knew I had kept that thing in their overnight for nothing. Thank goodness I checked before just spraying with ora gel. I love it, and want it in my pond, that why I freeze the cubans. They eat everything.

It nums them so putting them in the freezer is humane. Benzocaine in any form..20% will work. Alot of people whack with shovel, or other things I just cant. I go with the freezing. Put in fridge first to slow metabolism

I would just cut its head off with hedge trimmer, fast, done and it doesn't suffer. I have never tried freezer. Did read somewhere that the humane way to kill a mouse is to put it in a small jar and it runs out of air and just 'goes to sleep'. Well lets just say that did not work well and the poor thing suffered awful. Never again. So now if I get a mouse in a trap that isn't dead (usually breaks their little legs ect if they don't get their head in it positioned correctly), I just put it in a sandwich bag, seal, and then drop a solid concrete block on it. Super gross, but I feel it the best method for offing the mouse in a real fast way and it doesn't know what hit it. That is what I want, fast and faster. I HATE to trap a mouse and see it hurting. It really bothers me.

Female American bullfrog, I think, found in my display pond this morning, pushing a lily pad under the water. Invasive and restricted here in Washington State, so I'll probably try to catch and dispose of it.

I don't understand? How can a native frog be 'invasive' It is an American bullfrog- that is native?

It's native to the East Coast. They've always thought they were the only part of the US that mattered, and there's a lot of names and regions that reflect that. Smiling

Around here, these bullfrogs displace our native frogs and eat our treefrogs.
