Apparently this person tried to post a link which didn't work. Looks like he's trying to sell something. @Dave, is this a spammer?

I guess I'm confused what constitutes spam. This guy has a blog and is promoting a product he sells on his blog. It is a garden tool. Is that out of line? I rarely look at anyone's blog so it's certainly not bothering me any. Shrug.

In my opinion, all sales belong in the classifieds and blogs aren't meant to be sales promotions.

And yet I believe it is acceptable to include a personal website link to products sold online in your post ID, correct? That actually gets more traffic than a random blog entry as it shows up on every post one makes. I'm just not that tweaky about someone trying to get word out about their products, particularly when they are garden related. At the very least, the person involved should likely be invited in to this discussion? I have no stake in this one way or the other (just curiosity), so will back out.

Maybe the blogger just wants to share his love for that particular gardening tool. It is in his personal blog anyways, so he is entitled to it.

Now unless that blogger keeps linking that blog to all his comments in any threads, or putting it in all the threads as a totally irrelevant reply to an ongoing discussion, then I would say he is spamming.

I am afraid by allowing spam advertising in the blogs, soon they would become the dominant subject, just like spam advertising in email. If it not controlled it takes control.

The blog is the only contribution that member has made to the site but he just joined earlier this month. The blog entry does read like an advertisement and if you clink the link provided, it's to a website for the Mini Trencher. If he did mean to place an ad, hopefully he will eventually find the Classified forum and move it over there.

This is an advertisement pure and simple for a product, should be in a classified. Spam

I'm sure @Dave can take care of removing it from the blog area.

This one really skirts the line between what's appropriate and what's not. The blogs feature is not intended as a place to advertise your products and on that basis alone, I deleted this particular entry.

If it had been posted by a regular person who also has other quality blog posts, I would probably not want to do anything, but in this case the person signed up specifically to post this one entry. It is unsolicited commercial advertising and that's not what the blogs are for.

I hope the poster was provided an explanation. He could just be new to the site, not aware that there is a specific spot for classified ads, or he could well be an opportunist looking for free advertising. Who knows. In any event, I would rather encourage than discourage folks from utilizing the site. Just my 2 cents.

Oops, I see I already said I would bow out. Now I really will.
