I have two fairly large planters in which I would like to plant pink wax begonias. Looking for trailing blue companion plants to complement them. There is one annual that I have in mind, but can't think of its name. Its a medium blue in color and blooms quite prolifically over a long period of time. The blossom is quite small but lots of blooms per plant and I believe is cascading in nature. Does anyone have any idea of what plant I have in mind. Planters will be placed in dappled shade with morning sun and afternoon shade. Live in zone 5a (NW PA) so summers are usually quite mild - mostly 70's and 80's temps.

Would appreciate any suggestions you might have.

What about petunias? Like Multiflora Spreading/Trailing Petunia (Petunia Wave® Blue)

It's listed in the database. The pictures there seem more purple than blue to me but everyone sees color differently

Probably lobelia. Comes in various shades of blue. Some types are mounding and some are trailing.

Yes I'd say Lobelia as well, you can't beat it for a blue trailing bedding plant. It would go well with your begonias.

Maybe Bacopa

Thanks to all for your suggestions. Am leaning toward lobelia - have grown that in the past and liked it - and best of all it is available in this small town in which I live. I'm not sure but I think maybe bacopa is the plant I'm thinking of.

My neighbor in Charlotte, NC grew it, or something similar, in her planters every year and I really liked it. The color was a very pleasing shade of blue - a little lighter perhaps than wedgewood. However, I'm afraid I might not be able to find the plant locally. But I will probably settle on the lobelia if I can find a light blue variety. The ones I've had in the past were dark blue which I don't think would go as well with pink begonias as well as a lighter shade would.

Thanks again for your help. I like the Wave petunias but already have a couple containers with Red ones and want to have a little more variety.
