Thread OP

I am loosing leaves faster than they are added. At first I thought what I was seeing matched a post about spider mites so I did an every other day treatment with a mild soap solution and the damage just progressed. Typically when bottom leafs yellow and fall off I suspect over watering. But in this case the leaves look a little mottled and occasionally there is a hole in a leaf.

Any thoughts on saving ???

Ed

Things are looking up. I used the wrong potting mix most likely because I have not watered it for two weeks and they are looking better, soil still moist an inch down. I am checking the soil every couple days and when it is time to water again I will follow your suggestion and give it a light feeding.
Thanks, Ed

Fertilize it with Miracle grow. Glad your plant is getting better. Is it still improving???

They are surviving but not hearty at all. New leaves keep forming, look limp as the enlarge, turn yellow and fall off. So the stalk has doubled in size but I only have 6 to 8 leaves per plant. I did use a natural fertilizer a while back that is derived from chicken poop. Good stuff, works well for me.

So getting your note prompted me to just take the leap and plant them in the ground in a sunny spot. Interesting the root structure was large and really looked good. I have some systemic stuff I use on my roses so now that they are in the ground I think I will treat them with it as well.

Oh I still suspect spider mites so occasionally they get a dose of a weak Dove soup solution.

I will ultimately post here my out come. Smiling or :(

Brugs are a blessing and also a headache. But once you get that bloom , all the problems fade away.

Thumb of 2017-08-02/Ridesredmule/76aa15 this is Orange Julius. It is in a container. it is green and lush.
Thumb of 2017-08-02/Ridesredmule/8ba6f0 Then we have this brug. I believe is Sam, looks rough and insects love it. I just take the leaves off and throw into trash can.... It is looking a little better. As you can see I got insects that love my Brugs.

Charleen, your insect eaten brug is just what all of mine look like. I've had many different insects feeding on the leaves, but no matter how ratty the leaves look, those blooms are breathtaking! My only ones are a solid yellow type. That Orange Julius is wonderful!
