@Dave

I have been having a problem with giving thumbs up not showing as given later. On some threads I read, I just mark everyone with a thumbs up. I have been noticing for quite some time when I go back at a later date the thumbs up are not showing so I regive them. I do not know what occurs on their end, if they are getting them or if they are taken away. At first it seemed like it happened more if I was posting a reply at that time. Hit some thumbs up and post a reply. Now I do not know and it seems worse. But then I also wondered about my Android tablet. The NGA site has navigation buttons and action buttons to use. But my tablet has some of them, too. Especially a different back button. Then in addition tablet added 4 shortcuts in the site. So if I give thumbs up and I am done. I can use NGA to navigate such as back to home page or profile. Or I can use my tablet for back, and other shortcuts, which are homepage, profile, daylily search, and my Caffeinated thread. So I think the thumbs are dropping off because of the way I do navigating? If it was the site wouldn't more people say hey I think I am crazy. I am giving thumbs up and when returning to the thread they do not show. Any ideas?
I did have a thread reply duplicate yesterday for the first time, but I think it was my tablet's back button. It occurred while using my tablet navigation not the sites.
And on certain posts I have accidentally given myself thumbs but go back and remove. Does not occur on every post just randomly and I thought we could not ever give ourselves thumbs.

Thank You! and May you and your family receive an overabundance of blessings!

@Dave

This has happened to me in lots of different ways, but is my problem tied to or looks like this?

I received bell of a thumbs-up on Post# 1451433, last month, on my notification pages it is page #23, between an image notification #446133 of happy enchantment and a thumbs up from "hostasmore" for a photo of rose Dolly Parton. This thumbs-up is coming from Kabby. When I looked at the post to see which post. She had not given me a thumbs up listed on that post. Five other people did give thumbs, but not one is Kabby. I did not see it on her givens. Did she give me a thumbs-up and it disappeared? Is this what is happening to me, I am giving thumbs up and they are disappearing?

It is kind of rude to ask did you give me a thumbs up or not. I feel like I am crazy because I can swear I gave a thumbs-up and nothing shows. Do people think I keep taking away my thumbs-up? Confused

The randomness is crazy too. Sighing!

nodding Is anyone out there? nodding If so may you have a wonderful day!

If someone gives a thumb, they can later retract it by clicking again. That turns the icon green again and the thumb goes away.

Well, the problem here is that when someone gives you a thumb, it sends you a system message. But if someone retracts the thumb, you do not get a system message about that. So, the original system message stays (since system messages can't really be deleted) even after the thumb is retracted.

I think the real problem was she was giving thumbs to others and they are disappearing? I know I sometimes by mistake read a post and mean to give a thumb but already have and it goes away, I just re click it and add it back.

@Dave

But for my issue I have not been retracting my thumbs.
Where do they go?

May we all be blessed with clarity of mind and a wonderful day!

I really don't know. My only guess is that you clicked or tapped twice somehow.

I think one problem is that when you click to give a thumb, you don't get any immediate "feedback" that the click occurred. It just works for a moment and then the thumb turns grey to indicate that it went through.

I probably need to update it so that when you click, it immediately changes to something (like a working animation or something) and then that would prevent any chance of accidentally clicking twice.

It is really easy to click on the thumbs up twice by accident, especially if your connection is bad, because it can take a while for the change to register on your screen. I suspect I've done this a few times.

I'm glad to see this thread, because I gave someone a thumbs up for a new photo and their count dropped. I'm sure I hadn't seen this photo before.

A problem I have sometimes is when I click the thumbs up icon the number will increase but the thumb stays green...other times it does turn gray. No biggie as I'm sure it is just my dinasaur still on dial-up Shrug!

Thank You! Baja,

I have lost several on a page. One by one, yes I could easily do that. Maybe it is the overall timing of something I am doing. I still wonder if it's not my tablet's back button. Once on a thread and I have given thumbs up or whatever I do, it is the fastest way back to the forum or where I came from. I need to break a several years old habit of that button. I think I will try to hit the house and go back to the homepage. But old habits are hard to break

May your weekend be full of blessings

Ok, this is done! This should be helpful for this problem in the future. Next time you give a thumb you'll see how it works. It has a nice little "waiting" icon while the thumb is being processed (usually less than a second).

Duplicate thumb messages? I checked and they were thumbs for different posts in the same thread.

@Dave. I apologize I used my back buttons on the tablet and created a duplicate post # 1492418 # 1492419. I am trying to use the sites navigation. I am sorry for the extra work it caused.

Many blessings for everyone's July 4 to be safe and wonderful!
