I've never shown a lily in my life. I was encouraged by a mentor to do so. I snipped a few stems, learned staging tips from a few really helpful NALS folks. It was fun.
Here's my two best: blues

What is a lily show without at least one of Dr. Chris North's beautiful lilies?

Thanks for starting the thread! That 'FlashPoint' sure looked fasciated in bloom form, the stem was not flattened though, but yet not normal either, a little funky. @jmorth did you take a good look at that stem. I only am putting you on the spot because I see you photographed it.

Good experience to show. Now I want to be a judge. *Blush*

Happened last year too. I don't understand why it isn't either a teaching point at the show or tossed out from judging.. or both.

I don't recall for sure Connie, but I think one of these might have gotten a ribbon. I'm going with the theory that the blooms were not open at the time they cut the stem, and opened up at the show while on display. I'm not sure though.

They don't judge a fasciated stem, one with color streak or break should not be on the table either. Just my opinion. This is suppose to be the national show. And they had what, 3 stems of Anastasia, and a couple of the Robina as well. So it isn't like they were losing the cultivar for the show.

Formal congratulations to Tracy for the Blues. We had an enjoyable time there. It was in the same room the national/international Daffodil Show was held spring before last.
I had thought it might have been larger than it was.
You know it seems something registered with me about a lily being off sometime during our progression but I can't really say if it was that or not. (regarding Flashpoint)
Again though, Praise to Tracy. Excellent placements.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
