We didn't get this done as early this year as I had hoped, largely because we were waiting for some warmer weather before we put the greenhouse film covering on, but the tomatoes are doing great and next year I should be able to put them in a month early. Doing a happy dance, last year at this time it was just a sketchy idea that I didn't really think would happen. Hurray!

That's a good looking greenhouse, Sandy. Was it built from scratch or did you get a kit? We're thinking about building one when time allows. One issue for us is wind so it has to be anchored quite well.

I think they did it from scratch. I saw something about it on the Greenhouse forum.
It does look great, and obviously is working great. I showed it to my husband but he said our hilltop site is just too windy. It would be gone in a week or less! I would dearly love another one that is larger than my little 15 ft dome.

We don't need that much space since we grow all our starts indoors. But it would come in handy for getting the starts outside, hardened off, and growing before they go in the ground. And give us more room for storing supplies.

Karen's right, it was built "from scratch." I think wind is pretty much an issue everywhere -- we had wind gusts up to 70 mph a week ago. It's bolted down to railroad ties.

Mac, I start most of my plants indoors too, but then move them out to the GH usually around mid April, at least a month before I could put tender things like tomatoes and peppers outside. (I previously had an 8x16 Rion greenhouse that I used for that purpose.)

Thank You! for that information. It may be a winter project for us.

Thanks, Ric! I'm happy to say that (so far, at least) it's holding up to the snow -- thanks to a few support poles inside that we knew we would need.
