I made a list of plants available for sale, made sure the sub-list checkbox for each plant I want on the list is checked. For some reason, both on this site & when I pasted the link to the sub-list on FB, only 6 plants are showing on the list. When I look at the list, all 30 plants I included are showing. If anyone can help me determine why, I would be every so grateful! TY for reading & TIA!

I got the same complaint in this post that I did on FB:

To see which are the 6, I need to log out...

Tradescantia pallida is showing up as one of the 6, Billbergia 'Foster's Striate' is one that is on the list but not showing up.

Sorry, I had a feeling my post was very clear -- I did go to your profile link and see the list of plants that show as being for sale, but I don't have any way of knowing what other ones on your complete list SHOULD be saying for sale but aren't.

These are the ones that are on the for sale list when I view it:
Turtle vine
Monstera Plant
Stonecrop
Wingpod Purslane
Spiderwort
Purple Queen

What are a couple more that should be there? Maybe I (or someone) will be able to tell from your main list why they aren't in the "for sale" list.

TY! If you are only seeing 6, there are 24 more that should be there but are not. I compared the edit screen for one that is showing and one that is not, again just now, and can't see anything different about they way they are marked. I got googly-eyed & gave up last night, thinking it was just an issue with FB &/or I was too tired to find it, but there was a complaint on my post here this morning too.

Let me try, can you list three or four plants here in this thread that you are wanting to sell that are not included in the list of six that that we can see in your sale thread post.

Tiffany you have your categories set with privacy settings.

Two of your categories are marked "Private and only visible to me"

That means that any plant that is in either of those categories will never show publicly under any circumstance. Of the plants in your for sale group, you have many marked under these private categories.

Either remove them from the private category, or change the privacy setting of the categories.

You can change the privacy setting by going to your "Manage your categories" section from within your list sidebar.

There are only six plants showing in your category list of plants for sale. Those are the six plants that show up when I go to the thread in Classified and Group Buys forum. So maybe if you add all the plants for sale to that category list they would all print out. That was the only Category I could see you had listed.

Can you change each category separately, and how can I look at a category and tell if other can see it?

Finally figured out how to change them and how to tell if they can be viewed or not.

Dave, TY. That is it. The plants also appear within private lists. I can fix this by making those lists public, (which is undesirable, there is no reason for anyone to see those,) or remove the plants from the private lists, (which is undesirable because those lists help me make sure I don't forget anything when frost threatens.)

This defeats the purpose of making some lists private. The plants aren't private, just particular lists.

Can others see all of the plants on my main list? 343 total, 256 have? If so, I don't understand why the plants become private on all sublists, including the one marked as public, by being included on a different private sublist?

No, but if that is necessary, I will. I don't intend for the plants to be private, just my "to do" lists (grounded, potted.)

They could give wrong ideas about hardiness, and just generally waste time, to those who do not understand my purpose for creating those lists.

I can't be the only one who has private lists for various reasons but other lists that they want to be public for other various reasons, that might include some of the same plants ...can I?

I don't know, but if you put a plant in a private category, it will never show up. It's the downside to privacy settings.

Don't put the plant in private categories if you want others to see it.

Personally, I have no idea why anyone would have a private list. They are just plants. What you do or plan to do with them is of no consequence to me and I would have little interest in looking at your sub-lists, whether they are public or private. I'm fairly certain I wouldn't even know how to do that if it ever crossed my mind to do so... The only plant list I've ever even looked at other than my own is my sister's, to see what she might want from my yard (we use the 'want' option to identify plants to share). My general approach to web posting is anything I put on the internet is not-private, no matter what the setting might be, and I act accordingly.

I may be missing something, as I don't do any buying, selling or trading through this site, and perhaps that makes a difference in what others can or cannot see (?)
