Echibeckia: Intergeneric Cross

"Loves me, loves me not": When I was a teenager, this was a favorite game to tell me whether the current boyfriend loved me. You pulled the flower petals off the flower head and the last one told you the verdict. Daisy-like flowers have changed over the years. The latest plant trend is intergeneric crosses.

Thread OP

I just learned that Echibeckia is a "thing" when I saw the plants at Lowe's this week. A plant that looks very much like it volunteered in my Zone 6 yard at least six years ago and has recurred ever since; I had always figured it for a cross between a red rudbeckia hirta that died on me and the neighbor's varieties of the plant. It even overwinters in containers on our back patio. (Apologies for the poor photograph.)

Is this the same plant?
