I have resident Stellar jays. During the past week or so I have noticed a definite increase in numbers, at least double or triple the number I normally see. I checked online and found they typically do not migrate. I haven't changed anything in my feeding program, they have always liked the cracked corn in open feeders I set out. I'm getting more of them attempting to snack from my seed feeders designed for much smaller birds, which is humorous to watch (they are not very successful). I also have fruit trees (cherries are about done, plums are ripe, pears coming on). Wondering if there is any explanation to the increase of numbers? I don't remember this from years past, but could have just not noticed it.
