I bought a swamp milkweed plant at my gardening festival yesterday. Will this plant do well in a container?

I don't know why it would not grow in a container, they are not that aggressive of a spreader if that is the concern.
As Yogi Berra said, “It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”

My swamp milkweed plants were small and had no knew growth when they were in containers. When I planted them in the ground they grew so fast and had flowers and then produced pods.
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing with joy.
