Winnie the Pooh would call this a Very, Very Blustery day !
Our first taste of winter this fall.
Lucky for us, it is only a taste for one day.

Good day to begin packing seeds up to send to swaps.

And what a taste it is. Yesterday the Blue Jays were visiting and then this morning the birds are gathered in the bushes and coming in for seed in flocks.

The seeds for the NARGS swap are ready to mail, and the seeds for the Canadian swap are almost ready. A blustery day can be good for seed swaps.

Hello Caroline,
I'll have to check out the seed swaps.
Did you dig up your Dahlias? Mine are still in the ground, I hope this -5C isn't harming them. Maybe this afternoon I'll be able to lift them and get them drying in the GH.

Very impressed, Caroline. I've been collecting seed all season, but am only now cleaning in earnest. So now I have a chance to listen to my nephew's podcasts (deadideas.net) while I perform seedy duties. I will have enough to send to the SRGC, too.

I did not do dahlias this year. But I do have geraniums, thunbergia and begonia tubers which should come in.

Cleaning seed can be tedious and time consuming.
For my own garden, I am not too particular about chaff, but for swaps the seed should be clean. I also send the end of purchased seed packages into swaps. Packets which were purchased this current year.
