Hello

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a chance that if I showed some Mckanna Giants seeds if they might bloom next spring if I started them now?

If not any other Columbine strains that might bloom this next spring? I know Oragami is supposed to...any other? Nora Barlow, Clementine, Songbird? I love Columbines! Please share any experience or wisdom.

Thank you

It has been a long time since I grew them so I don't remember well. I wintersowed them. They do need cold strat unless the seeds are very fresh. If you pick the seeds from the plant in summer and throw on the ground, they sprout immediately. Older seeds need that cold period and wintersowing fits the bill.

I think McKanna's Giants bloomed in year 2 and Origami in the first year. I don't have them anymore. I got rid of them due to severe repeated sawfly larvae damage.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for responding. Kind of what I thought. I will have to order some Origami since that will be my best bet for blooms next spring.
I showed some strain called Harlequin from Burpee around February of last year so those should bloom this time around.
Thank you. Thank You!
