You posted that you are growing some daylilies species in Miami that survive (rust?) but may not flower regularly. Could you please identify those species. Could you also please describe how they grow for you. For example, do they lose their leaves in the summer and stop growing new leaves? Or do they lose their leaves in the winter months and stop growing new leaves then? In what way is their flowering not regular - do they skip some years? Any specific information you can provide will be helpful as I am interested in how well daylilies grow and flower at high temperatures.

I just saw this yesterday; sorry for the delay answering. I have H. citrina, multiflora, and flava which I got from the company McClure & Zimmerman a year ago. I was having problems with rust on the named cultivars I had previously bought and wondered if other species might survive here. H. citrina does well and is blooming this year and has no rust. H. multiflora has survived the past year but is not blooming. Their H. flava, however, has gotten rust, yet is did survive the year. None of these died back during our winter. I would be happy to try other species. My task now, however, is to search for resistant cultivars. Even those are often susceptible here in Miami or they are the dormant type and often fade away, and now I'll only buy those labeled as immune. Contact me directly at [email protected] .
