While ripping out tomato vines I found a monarch chrysalis. Milkweeds are nearby. Since we had a few hard freezes, I brought it inside just in case. It was already pretty well developed. A fresh female emerged a couple of days ago. It has beena little too cool for flight so I've kept it caged. We have a few days of near 60 and sunny coming so I'm hoping to release then. Any tips for trying to keep it alive until then? She looks a little shaky at this time.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

Texas Butterfly Ranch has some suggestions on feeding while awaiting better weather for release. Good luck.

Update: Released around noon on a sunny 60 degree day on flowering gray coneflower. Gone 2 hours later. 5 days of sunny 60s after that. Hope and a prayer.
