I'm curious how long you've had your Anemone coronaria?

I went to several of the other Anemone coronaria cultivars in the database and none that I viewed showed hardiness zones, nor did I see any plant performance reports filed.

I think it was in 2014 I bought a blue double flower variety (can't remember the name - but not thinking it was 'Lord Lieutenant') and a red double flower, one listed in the database 'The Governor'.

I bought them at Lowe's and both were marked hardy to zone 5; very healthy blooming plants. I was excited! I thought what great little mini bouquets they would make. Well, obviously they are not hardy to zone 5 (or are really biennials and not perennials), because I don't remember having a hard winter that year and neither plant returned the following spring.

They do photograph nicely, and yours is a beauty!

Asa's anemones are also mine, so he asked me to pop in and answer for you.
I got them all last fall and they sat around in a box, languishing, for quite a while until I had a chance to throw them, and all their more bulby friends, into the ground.
I did soak them first, as the instructions directed, but honestly, everything about last fall's 'planting escapades' was rushed and haphazard because, well, life, ya know, can be derailing at times.

We are in northern Utah on the side of one of those rocky mountains, btw, so we do get proper winter here. We had a wicked winter, with tons of snow but no sustained deep-freeze.
Still, I was thrilled to see them sprout in the spring.
Most all of them bloomed in the spring as anticipated, including The Governor. And now, there are three that magically appeared this fall to bloom-- and
I'm confused, too, and will be curious to see if any will show up again in the spring. And, if any of the gazillion seeds may volunteer...

Teresa, she's so much more knowledgeable than I. My job around here (with the gardens) is to chair the fan club and be the facilitator and enabler. And enjoy the art that she creates with her gardens.
