Indeed..a weird weather pattern..after our long dry run, a sudden rain and hail, like a much delayed winter adieu.

Oh, and finally my amaryllis has all its flowers in bloom.. Hurray! Hurray! I hope the 2nd bloom stalk can catch up.
Getting a shot with and without a flash...I like them both ways. Lovey dubby

Lovely and bright. I like to take the photos both ways also, I find that the flash shows up the shine and glimmer on the petals better. nodding

My amaryllis bloom has started to fade.. Sad but the next bloom stalk is continuing on to mature. Big Grin And I saw yesterday that finally the remaining amaryllis blooms outdoors have sent a bloom stalk as well, after a year! Yippee Hurray! Hurray! Now let's see if it will survive the very windy conditons we are having today. So it does show I can grow them without giving a winter rest, maybe it just needed to adjust that whole year when I repotted them, so it skipped a spring season last year.

This other potential bloom stalk is a bit dicey..but let's see if it will continue on:

Tarev, that's great, hope you get lots more blooms.

The plant with the scape and the small plants surrounding it in the pot, are they off shoots from the mother bulb or did you plant several bulbs in one pot?? Confused

There were several bulbs in there, but I do see smaller growth on the side around, which can be offshoots as well.

We have amaryllis in the ground as perennials here. They bloom on cue, in March and April just like the daffs and tulips up north. Mine are on the north side of the house, in the shade all winter, but as the sun gets higher and hits them, they spring into bloom.

Always mourn a bit that they are so beautiful but short-lived. But I got a nice surprise this spring when this clump bloomed a month ago, now one bulb has put up a second flower stem!

These others have just come into bloom, as they are closer to the house so the sun hits them later.

Yep, Margaret, and I migrated all the way across the continent from Vancouver BC to be able to go sailing and garden all year 'round. Decided I could stand 4 months of heat a lot better than 6 months of cold.

My niece from Vancouver Island is here visiting, and she said "wow, it's summer here! Still winter where we are." when she arrived. I tell all my friends that the winter weather here is just like Vancouver summer, except the days are shorter.
