Hi. I
I have noticed when looking thru the forums for recent posts, I will see an item like you see below, in the forums page.
Thumb of 2017-12-08/lauriebasler/caa844

But when I go to the thread, this is what I find:

Thumb of 2017-12-08/lauriebasler/5ede1f

I notice that the box on the far left that says new, for new posts is empty. Are my settings off a bit. Just curious. Thanks for thinking about it. It certainly is not much of an issue.

Did you scroll down below the 'stickies'? That's where the new posts will appear.
(And I for one would like to see all the stickies on a given forum consolidated into just one sticky so they take up less room...but that's just be being old and cranky. Whistling )

I'm pretty sure that the box on the far left is for thumbnails of a photo that might be included in the post. The red speech balloon is the thing that indicates that there's something new whether it be a new post or a new comment on an existing post.

To test it, read one of the posts with the red balloon, then go back to the list to see if it disappeared.

Well, I think we are just curious and wise, and wish to better the world by sharing our superior wisdom. LOL.

So, yes; it's confusing enough that I considered it could be a bug, but does it matter,,......not one iota. (what's and iota anyways.)

I like the work around. Thank you.

Thanks @greene. You having all the answers is cool to the point it's making me jealous lol. Have a glorious Thursday lady!

@joannakat, ahhhhh thank you. I am learning more with this one question, than I care to admit. I am a danger to myself and others when I know enough to notice how much I don't know. Thank you very much. I am off to play with posts with red talkie balloons and those with out and look for "stickies" Thanks.

@lauriebasler, you and me both! LOL!

BTW, an iota is that thing you should do. Usually prefaced with "Whyyyyy,..."

Technically an iota is an extremely small amount, but it is way funnier the way @joannakat explained it...Whyyyyy, iota ( I ought to) do...whatever. Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up
