There is a trichocereus/echinopsis plant in the picture, which is most definitely not Echinopsis calochlora and the plant that appears to be the main focus of the picture is what looks to me a Parodia (possibly P. magnifica).

If you compare the plant in this picture to the other images posted under Echinopsis calochlora, you will note that the plant in this picture is distinctly different and given my own E. calochlora plants the plants in the other pictures are correctly identified.

I would suggest you ask for this image to be moved to either the generic Parodia entry or maybe someone can identify the plant with more certainty than I can.

Thank you for noticing the possible error. Below is the signage from which I took the information at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. My presumption was the identification of the cacti which was most predominent. I looked up Parodia and the bloom seems to come from the center, this cacti has a spent bloom from the side. Is this a characteristic which defines it? I am far from a cacti expert, and any definite and positive identification will be grateful, and I will make the changes. @Baja_Costero perhaps can come to my assistance, he for certain is an expert in this category.

I suspect the sign may point to the cactus to the lower right of the sign in your photo - that is definitely an Echinopsis, and closer to what you might expect E. calochlora to look like. As to the main cactus is really not an Echinopsis. Spent blooms can stick on the cactus long enough that through growth of the plant they do not look as centered - though that one is close enough to the center that it might still classify as being from the center of the plant.

I would defer to Thijs' expertise on this subject. The big cactus with the white fuzz in the original picture does look like a Parodia, but I am almost completely useless when it comes to distinguishing Echinopsis species (or for that matter knowing what makes an Echinopsis different from a few other genera).

The lower right plant in the second picture looks like an Echinopsis but I couldn't tell you much more.

As a matter related to signage, these plants are long enough lived that they sometimes wander from the original name tag (growing sideways for example), or the name tag wanders from them... or the plant dies without anybody noticing or thinking to pull the tag. I have seen all of the above in botanical gardens, and I'm sympathetic to the task of keeping identifying name tags continually up to date. Then again sometimes the puzzle of figuring out what forensically what happened can be entertaining in itself.

Well, this is certainly a learning experience, and I appreciate all the help. However, the dilemma continues. I was about to change the category to Parodia, as suggested, and here too, there is no generic genus grouping into which I can place it. There are two pages of specific plants in this genus category, to which I have no idea of the correct one. Whatever happened to the generic grouping? The old system did have this generic category. If you have a suggestion, great, I'll follow through, otherwise I will just withdraw the photo.
