I have tried several times to overwinter one in my pots, but perhaps you will have better luck in the ground.

Did well baking in my rock garden-- full sun, south-facing slope, dry heat high 90s--low 100s
Had to keep cutting back that lovely flowering weed you can see there trying to smother it.

Currently under snow, so we'll see how it handles winter
