I know this was discussed before but I've searched high and low and can't find where it was.

Here's what I did and what I wanted to do late last night.
I wrote a post on a thread and hit 'enter'.
Scrolled up to re-read a little of the discussion and saw that I had mixed up the names of 2 members and had responded to the wrong one.
I edited my post by deleting (erasing) what I had written. Doing that still leaves the 'framework' of an empty post. My avatar and the date and time display in an empty box so to speak.

Is there a way to delete or remove the 'remains of the day'?
Also, is there a way I could have deleted it correctly? Or do we not have the ability to delete a post?

I can see why in general it's a bad idea to be able to delete posts willy nilly. In this particular instance (which may not matter) I was the only person chatting. I keep such late hours that I didn't think anyone else in this neck of the woods would be awake.

There isn't a way to delete a post per se - @dave would have to do it manually. The best option at present is to edit your post (as you have done). My personal preference is to add a comment (i.e. "Post made in error") or something like that rather than a blank post, since that (at least to me) has the increased perception of a bug in the site.

Good idea to add a comment like that. Think I'll go do that now. Thanks.
