Your camellia looks just like the one my late neighbor had. One year he brought me a bloom and said I should smell it. I don't know if this is true of all camellias, but it had no scent. Fooled me.

Every year after that he'd bring me a bloom and would try the same 'trick'. I'd just shake my head and laugh.

I don't know if your camellia is the same as his. Just wanted you to know that every time it floats by on the screen, it gives me a big grin.

My camellia has no scent. I have never smelled a camellia that had any scent & I have sniffed many. As far as I know, camellia blooms aren't fragrant.

Sadly his camelia hasn't bloomed since he died. I know because I've been keeping an eyeball on it. His house has been in probate for over 5 years now and whoever ends up as the rightful owner is undoubtedly going to tear the house down. Even if I can't rescue the camellia, there are some irises that should be liberated.

So anyway, I miss him trying to fool me every year. Found out that he tried it on the neighbor who lives on the other side too.

They probably just need some acid fertilizer. I don't imagine you're soil is acid there and azaleas and camellias and as far as I know all rhododendrons require a certain amount of acid in the soil or you have to give them fertilizer that has acid.
