Does anyone know if salvias are self fertile? I've been researching on the internet all afternoon and haven't found a reliable source. Thanks!

My understanding is that they are not self fertile. The stamen operates on a lever basis and as such it requires an external pollinator to manipulate the lever (as it tries to get to the nectar) to achieve the transfer of pollen.
I read that a couple of years ago so it's not definitive. I'll try to find the paper.

Thanks. All I've been able to find is this article that suggests 9 species are self fertile, but if I read the testing method correctly they hand pollenated...

Just circling back. I have scientific proof that at least Salvia Coccinea (Coral Nymph) does exhibit apomictic properties!
