Yes they are. I also have a couple of pink ones. A friend gave them to me, and I just love them with the Iris

So do I! I've never seen a mix like that. I'll be looking.

Thanks!

Jan, Love the forget-me-nots!!
I think this is not the correct ID for the iris though, it's registered as a "rich orange, half dollar size white area surrounding rich tangerine red beard". Your blooms look like a soft apricot/peach. See the other 2 images attached to this entry. Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Olympic Challenge')

It could be one of the color stages the iris goes through. Either that or someone's selling the wrong iris to lots of people. Look at the color variations on the DG page:

Yes, that one on DG could also be wrong but it still has the big fat orange beards and the white spot under the beard. It looks like it was taken with overcast skies, not full sun.
I am also basing my ID question on this post by Jan. regarding the first image.

Based on the Wiki link, I do think that DG one is wrong too but I am not going to report it. Rolling my eyes.

I was actually looking at all of the photos on the DG page, not just that one. At least three look more peach than orange.

I do not grow OC but will add my opinion for what it's worth. The two darkest orange pictures are both take from iris catalogs and I often find that catalog pictures are not accurate to what I see in my garden when I see the actual plant in bloom. Doing a google search shows OC in a lot of different orange tones. If the picture was taken in bright sunlight that could wash it out....so Confused Shrug! Confused

I purchased this from the Madison Iris sale several years back. The description (and the reason I purchased it) was because it was labeled as an orange. It has always been an apricot color for me, both with my camera, and in real life. It doesn't seem to matter if it is sunny, dark, rainy - the photos I take of it, are exactly what I see - apricot.

This is always my earliest TB to bloom, and has been planted in two different beds with varying amounts of sunlight. - and it is still this color. The scapes are about 24 to 27 inches tall

I will go with whatever people think - a NoID or Olympic Challenge.

I think Sue's right. I played with the color, contrast, and brightness to see whether the catalog photos were oversaturated, but although I achieved a darker orange color in Jan's photo, no amount of fiddling produced the white area around the beard, so I feel certain that the iris is not Olympic Challenge. Sad Sorry. I love the shot though so for now will move it over to the general iris entry. Thumbs up

No problem, and also thanks. I would rather have it as a NoID, then be mislabeling it.
