In May 1999, my parents gave my husband and I the Redbud tree and the Blue Spruce you see in the background from the property they lived on. They've both passed away (Mom 2 years on Feb. 14 and Dad 1 year on March 16), but these two trees are living memories of them for me.
I want to get a current photo of the same shot. The Spruce is now taller than the utility pole and the Redbud is larger.

We have a side entry driveway and I stood at the end of it and was able to get this shot of the photo. We have a small hill going up to the backyard and I was lower than the grass level.

It is very interesting how having learned a little of the meaning a plant has for someone becomes more beautiful to a stranger, as is your memory of the Redbud. The banner now also has new meaning of beauty to me....your loving memory of your parents.

When a good friend or family member has someone dear to them pass away, if they will allow it (some hate plants ) I try to give them something to plant in that person's memory, and if need be, I help them plant it. I know I appreciated it when a couple people did that for me when my mom died a couple years ago.
